1898 Print Daniel Defoe Pillory Shortest Way Dissenters Cityscape Eyre XAD4

This is an original 1898 halftone print of "Defoe in the Pillory." The scene depicted here shows Daniel Defoe being put in the pillory for his libel "The Shortest Way with the Dissenters." He had to then pay a fine and find sureties for his good behavior for seven years after that.
