This is an original 1899 black and white halftone print of the Hôtel de la Reine Blanche in Paris, France. It was here that Charles VI held the infamous Bal des Ardents (Fiery Ball), a sort of costumed carnival in which the king lost four of his friends. They were disguised as savages, and supposedly had been drinking quite a bit by the time they accidentally caught each other on fire.
