1899 Print Palace Church Inauguration Procession Netherlands Queen XGI5

This is an original 1899 halftone print of the procession on the morning of September 6, 1898 for the inauguration of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. Queen Wilhelmina reigned for 58 years, longer than any other Dutch monarch (1890 to 1948). Her reign encompassed both World War I and World War II and Whelmina proved a great inspiration to the Dutch resistance to German occupation. An early concern was that she would be unable to produce an heir led to succession plans, but these dissipated upon the birth of her daughter Juliana in 1909.
