This is an original 1900 two-color cover for The Harvard Lampoon. The Harvard Jester sits on a winged horse, holding up a shield inscribed with the motto VA-NI-TAS (Latin, meaning "empty"), a parody of Havard's crest, which features Veritas, or Truth. The cartoon makes light of the age-old habit women have of refusing to impart with their real age.
