This is an original 1900 black and white photogravure of James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth, 1st Duke of Buccleuch, illegitimate son of Charles II, he had many titles and a problem with the fact that when his father died, the throne went to his uncle, James II. He declared his eminence as King of England and led a revolt called the Monmouth Rebellion which ultimately ended with his execution for treason against the crown.
