This is an original 1900 black and white photogravure of James I, King of England and Ireland, alternately known as James VI, King of the Scots.

King of Scotland since shortly after his birthday, the Scottish lands were ruled predominantly by regents while he was still too young to preside as active King. Eventually, Elizabeth I, Queen of England would die leaving no heirs from the House of Tudor leading to James's ascension to the throne of England and Ireland as well.
