Reynolds was a famous and influential English painter during the 18th century. He was, perhaps, most famous for his "Grand Style" artworks, which idealized the imperfect. Reynolds also specialized in portraits. He was an original founder and the first president of the Royal Academy of Arts in Burlington House on Piccadilly in London, England. Reynolds was knighted by King George II in 1769.
