This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of a portrait of Polish politician and revolutionary Szymon Konarski (1808-1839). He served in the army of the Kingdom of Poland as a soldier in a foot rifle regiment and fought in the November Uprising of 1830-1831 against Imperial Russia, where he rose from the rank of private to 2nd Lieutenant. He was arrested by Russian police on May 27, 1838 and imprisoned for treason. He was executed by firing squad on February 27, 1839.
