This is an original 1906 halftone print of the picturesque little village of Cochem, Germany. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in bloody history. After changing hands multiple times over the centuries, it finally settled down with Germany and everything seemed fine and dandy until the Second World War. The altercations with the Allied forces destroyed a lot of the old town, and the Germans established a subcamp of the Natweiler concentration camp (Zeisig) in the vicinity. They imprisoned over 13,000 people and forced them to produce Bosch components such as spark plugs for the German war effort.
