This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of a portrait of Polish political activist Jarosław Dabrowski (1836-1871). He served as a leader of the "Reds" faction in the Central National Committee and the Provisional National Government during the January Uprising that was fought between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Russian Empire from 1863-1865. Later, he supported the revolutionary and socialist government during the Paris Commune that ruled Paris, France from March 18 - May 28, 1871. He was killed by soldiers of the French National Government while fighting with his fellow "Communards" on the barricades in the city streets of Paris on May 23, 1871.
