This is an original 1906 halftone print of the cloister of the Benedictine Maria Laach Abbey near Andernach, in Germany. During World War II and the rise of the nazi regime, this abbey was noted for its support and its gathering of political refugees who had high hopes that the Third Reich would lead them to a third Holy Roman Empire.
