This is an original 1907 black and white halftone print of the Church of San Michele which is located on a cemetery island of the same name near Venice, Italy. The Venetian Municipality constructs a bridge of boats from the Fondamenta Nuova to the island (Campo Santo) which is about half a mile. This is done for the religious holiday All Saints' Day so that the inhabitants of Venice can cheaply get to the cemetery to honor their dead without paying for an expensive boat or gondola ride.
