This is an original 1907 black and white halftone print of the facade of St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) which can be found on St. Mark's Square in Venice (Venezia), Italy. This basilica was built in AD 828 when Venetian merchants stole St. Mark's relics from Alexandria, Egypt, and needed a place to store him. St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice. The basilica is an excellent example of Byzantine architecture.
