This is an original 1910 sepia photogravure of "The Gateway & Walls. Fort St. Andrè." Captured in this early twentieth century image is the Saint-André Fort, a massive structure atop the summit of the Andaon Mount. In 1291, Philippe the Beautiful, the French King, realized his grandfather's desire to fortify the strategically important location on the Rhône River at the then-border of France.
