This is an original 1910 black and white halftone print of "Detail of Portal of St. Trophime. Arles," and "Portal of St. Trophime. Arles." These two images capture the portal entrance of the Church of St. Trophime (Trophimus), a Roman Catholic church (former cathedral) in Arles, France. Built between the twelfth and fifteenth centuries, the church is a significant example of Romanesque architecture. The portal captured in these images, specifically the sculpture and columns, represent some of the finest remaining examples of Romanesque sculpture.
