This is an original 1914 tipped-in color print of a watercolor drawing by Jules Guerin of the Wilderness of Judea.

Period Paper is pleased to offer an exceptional collection of hand-tipped color prints of watercolor drawings by Maxfield Parrish and Jules Guerin. We have seen a number of these collections, but this is the finest collection we have yet seen in terms of condition and color saturation. Each print is tipped-in on a heavy laid stock board and is suitable for framing.

This 97+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. No creases. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. There is some light aging in the margins of the mounting board.

Jules Guerin

Jules Guerin (1866-1946) was born in St. Louis, Missouri and studied art in Chicago and later in Paris where he studied under Benjamin-Constant and Jean Paul Laurens. After his return from Europe he illustrated books, often travel books about exotic places including North Africa and Palestine. He took part in many of the international expositions of the day and was asked to serve as director of color at the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915. Guerin's mural decorations can be found in many cities in the U. S. including New York, Chicago, Cleveland, and San Francisco.
