This is an original 1914 black and white halftone print of "Auguste Beernaert." Auguste Marie François Beernaert was Belgium's fourteenth Prime Minister, serving from 1884 to 1894, after which he represented Belgium at the Hague conventions of 1899 and 1907. His work at teh Permanent Court of Arbitration would co-earn him a Nobel Peace Prize in 1909 (the other co-earner was Paul d'Estournelles de Constant).
