This is an original 1920 duotone photogravure on classic laid stock for, "Le Canapé, Château du Bréau." The walls are grayish white and the curtains are red and yellow. Exhibited is a Louis XIV parquet floor and Louis XVI furniture.

Gay, Walter

Walter Gay (1856-1937) was an American painter based in Paris, France. His paintings most often portrayed common peasant life, and he received awards for his work across Europe. After his death, his widow remained in France, unfortunately just in time for the German occupation. In 1943 she passed away in her own home, having been unable to return to her hometown in New York.
