This is an original 1920 duotone photogravure on classic laid stock for "The Long Gallery, Château de Courance, Seine-et-Marne, France," featuring an image of Louis XVI tapestries after Watteau and Lancret. The cabinets on the left are by Boule and on top, are bronze sculptures of the same era. The commodes to the right are Louis XV.

This 91+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging throughout. Light wrinkling. No natural defects. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note that there is printing on the reverse. Also note that there are two brown specks on the right margin of this image, but they could easily be matted out.

Gay, Walter

Walter Gay (1856-1937) was an American painter based in Paris, France. His paintings most often portrayed common peasant life, and he received awards for his work across Europe. After his death, his widow remained in France, unfortunately just in time for the German occupation. In 1943 she passed away in her own home, having been unable to return to her hometown in New York.
