This is an original 1920 duotone photogravure on classic laid stock for, "The Yellow Room," featuring a room from the former Hotel de Chaulnes of 11 rue de l'Université, Paris, France (Republique Française). The walls are lemon yellow, and the drawings are from the 18th century. Also shown is a Regence clock and table, and Louis XVI chairs.

Gay, Walter

Walter Gay (1856-1937) was an American painter based in Paris, France. His paintings most often portrayed common peasant life, and he received awards for his work across Europe. After his death, his widow remained in France, unfortunately just in time for the German occupation. In 1943 she passed away in her own home, having been unable to return to her hometown in New York.
