W. T. Smedley

(1858-1920) William Thomas Smedley, a free lance artist, was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and later studied in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens. Smedley began his career as a pen and ink artist for Harper and Brothers and his work subsequently appeared in many magazines including Scribner's, Harper's, and Ladies Home Journal.
