1921 Print Commodore Perry Lawrence Ship W. J. Aylward - ORIGINAL NAVY

This is an original 1921 color plate of a drawing by W. J. Aylward. (Copyright date of 1913.) During the War of 1812 Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship the Lawrence was destroyed in battle and Perry rowed a half-mile through heavy gunfire to transfer command to the Niagara, carrying his battle flag which read "Don't Give Up The Ship!"
