1922 Print Roman Ancient City Architecture Appius Claudius Blind Appian Way NGM2

This is an original 1922 halftone print of the Appian Way in Rome, Italy, which was erected by Appius Claudius the Blind during the Samnite War. Appian Way was also referred to be the Romans as the "Queen of Roads." It is the oldest and most renowned of the ancient city and stretches from Rome to Brindisi, on the Adriatic. Appian Way was especially distinguished for the amount and magnificence of its surrounding tombs, which were built from the marble of conquered countries.
