1922 Rotogravure Glacier National Park Lake McDermott Montana Mountain Landscape

This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Lake McDermott at Glacier National Park. The park is located in Montana, and in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. It encompasses over a million acres, and has over 130 lakes. Based on photographs taken throughout the past century, geologists say that the 25 glaciers in the park may be gone by 2030. In 1850, the park was said to have around 150 glaciers. Blackfoot Glacier, the second largest glacier in the park, lost over 23% of its surface area from 1966 to 2005.
