This is an original 1923 halftone print of the Hermes of Praxiteles, found at Olympia, Peloponnese, Greece (Hellas), in 1877. Hermes is holding the child Dionysus, the god of wine and madness. Hermes guided souls to the Underworld, and is represented by his winged sandals, roosters, and his staff. The sculpture was uncovered in the Temple of Hera, and can now be found in the Archaeological Museum. Photography by Alinari.
