This is an original 1923 halftone print of J. J. Walters, who became one of the country's greatest fingerprint experts. Walters was a life-term convict at the penitentiary of San Quentin, California, and spent his days documenting and recording his findings after researching over 500,000 fingerprints. At the time, he had a more complete fingerprint record than any other police department.
