This is an original 1927 halftone print of the inside of the cave at Le Mas d'Azil which is located in the Ariège department in southwestern France. The cave or grotte is a 500 meter long tunnel that was dug by the Arize River. The secondary caves leading of the main one were occupied at various times by prehistoric peoples.
