This is an original 1928 black and white halftone print of a lithograph by George C. Wales that depicts the tea clipper sailing ship, USS Nightingale, that was taken as a prize off the coast of Africa in 1861 by the sloop of war, USS Saratoga, and purchased by the United States Navy (USN). The USS Nightingale served as a supply ship for the Confederate States of America (CSA) during the American Civil War. She later served as the flagship of the 1865-1867 Western Union Telegraph Expedition to the arctic.

This 85+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Moderate aging throughout. Light creasing. There is light bleedthrough on this piece from the verso. Please note: There is printing on the verso.
