This is an original 1929 black and white halftone print of La Chaise-Dieu: the Abbey Church in France. This Benedictine abbey was founded in 1043 and continued to grow until the monks were driven out during the French Revolution. In 1727 Bishop Jean Soanen was exiled to the Abbey and since 1966 an annual festival of classical music takes place every year.
