This is an original 1930 black and white halftone print of a stone cross that was built by John Frederic Herbin to mark the place where he believed the cemetery of the church of Saint Charles was located. Herbin was a decendent of the Acadians who once lived in Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia, Canada. He bought the land in 1907 and created the cross to honor the people that were forced to abandon their homes and were deported by the British.
