This is an original 1931 tipped-in black and white collotype that depicts the prophet Elijah having words with King Ahab. Elijah was squaring off with prophets of the false god, Baal, with each side preparing offerings for their deity in the hope that it would be consumed by fire. The offering for Baal remained raw, probably starting to smell. Elijah's offering, although doused in water (he had faith that his god would prevail), was suddenly consumed by burning flames.
