This is an original 1934 halftone print of Verona, Italy. This depiction of the town shows the Ponte Pietra or Stone Bridge that crosses the Adige River that winds its way through the town. The bridge was completed around 100 BC. This city is an UNESCO world heritage site because of its urban structure and architecture.

Period Paper has obtained this exclusive collection of rare halftone prints from a journey taken by Philip Gibbs, who traveled through Switzerland, France, Hungary, Austria, Italy and the Saar during the spring and summer months of 1934. The illustrations were crafted by E. Lander, who portrayed scenes in Moret, Vezelay, Paris, Sens, Stuttgart, Avallon and others. Additional illustrations included that of a labor camp in Munich, cityscapes, churches and cathedrals, as well as scenes of the rise of the malicious German military prior to the onset of World War II.
