This is an original 1935 halftone print of a portraiture of William Dampier, originally painted by T. Murray and given courtesy of the National Portrait Gallery. William Dampier was the first Englishman to explore or map parts of New Holland and New Guinea. He was also the first person to circumnavigate the world three times.
