This is an original 1936 halftone print of Father Divine, Frederick Edwards, and his mother Eliza Mayfield of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Reverend Major Jealous Divine, also known as Father Divine, founded the International Peace Movement; however, he also claimed to be God and has been referred to as a charlatan (someone practicing quackery in order to obtain money) and the first modern-day cult leader.
