This is an original 1941 black and white photogravure of a scene in what we believe to be the Métro or subway of Paris, France. The first line of the Métro began to operate on July 19, 1900. It is one of the densest metro networks in the world.

Geyer, Harold C.

Harold C. Geyer (1905 - ?) was born in Cold Springs, New York, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in in 1930. A few years later, he traveled to France in order to study medieval architecture and created many illustrations of the places he found and came to love in that country.
