This is an original 1941 black and white photogravure of what we believe to be the Place Royale (Royal Square) which is located in the city of Reims in northeast France. The statue in the center of the square is of Louis XV and the bell towers of the Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral can be seen rising above the city in the distance.

Geyer, Harold C.

Harold C. Geyer (1905 - ?) was born in Cold Springs, New York, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in in 1930. A few years later, he traveled to France in order to study medieval architecture and created many illustrations of the places he found and came to love in that country.
