This is an original 1941 halftone print of workers at the Carbide & Carbon Chemicals Corporation. The plant seen is located in South Charleston, West Virginia. Shown is a section of a fractionation unit that separated natural, coke-oven, and refinery gasses into parts. From them, the corporation created over 160 various types of chemicals. At the time of this image, the company owned 179 plants, six mines and six laboratories.
