This is an original 1945 monochrome halftone print of a massive explosion, probably from a heavy piece of artillery, launching dust, sand, and water into the air as Allied landing craft pass unharmed, pushing on to the initial landing zone at Salerno, during the invasion of the Italian Peninsula in September, 1943.
