This is an original 1947 monochrome in-text lithograph of the Block House of Ile St. Hélène, outside of the city of Montreal in the province of Quebec, Canada. The fort was used by the British Army between 1820-1872 CE and was used to house Italian POW's during W.W.II.

Thornton Oakley

(1881-1953) Thornton Oakley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in architecture. He also studied illustration with Howard Pyle. He was best known for his depiction of industrial subjects. OakleyÕs work appeared in numerous books and magazines, including Harper's, The Century, Collier's, and Everybody's Magazine. His paintings are in the collections of many museums.
