This is an original 1947 monochrome in-text lithograph of the Chauvin Trading Post located in the village of Tadoussac in the province of Quebec, Canada. The post house was built by fur trapper, Pierre de Chauvin Tonnetuit in the 17th century CE.

Thornton Oakley

(1881-1953) Thornton Oakley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in architecture. He also studied illustration with Howard Pyle. He was best known for his depiction of industrial subjects. OakleyÕs work appeared in numerous books and magazines, including Harper's, The Century, Collier's, and Everybody's Magazine. His paintings are in the collections of many museums.
