This is an original 1947 black and white halftone print of Tom Moore's Tavern, also referred to as the Walsingham House in Hamilton Parish, Bermuda. This historic structure, originally erected in 1652, now serves as an upscale restaurant for tourists and has proved to be the oldest restaurant in Bermdua. Originally, the building was constructed as a private residence for ship captain of the Sea Venture, Robert Walsingham, whose ship wrecked nearby in 1609. Later, the home was owned by the Samuel Trott family. The house was renamed under the tavern moniker after the famous Irish poet, Tom Moore, came to Bermuda in 1804, and wrote many of his works here.
