This is an original 1950 color photolithograph of the textile design from a short-sleeved kaftan that belonged to Sultan Mehmet III (1596-1603). A kaftan is like a mantle that is usually worn over indoor clothing. It was made of Catma velvet and the pattern contains a crescent and crown motif.
