This is an incredibly creative original 1931 color print ad for the Hartford Fire Insurance Company and the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company. The company was founded in Hartford, Connecticut around 1810 by President Jeffery A. Chism. Over the years the business endured many major tragedies, including the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, as well as the Chicago fire of 1871. In 1835, a fire burned through New York's financial district and Chism used his own personal finances to pay out the company's damage claims.
