This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which illustrates some of the female fashions of ancient Greece, as depicted in various figurines from Tanagra and Asia Minor. Tanagra, north of Athens, was known for its mold-cast terracotta statuettes, which often depicted real people. With the hot climate of Greece and the outlying areas, it is no wonder that all of these women wore loose, draping garments made of thin material, perfect for the Mediterranean weather.
