This is an original 1906 black and white intaglio print of Marie Jeanne Philippon Roland. She was married to Jean-Marie Roland de la Platiére, a Girondist party leader and advocate of the French Revolution. During the Reign of Terror she fell out favor and was executed by the guillotine on November 8, 1793.
