This is an original 1913 halftone print of a Ferocactus (Bisnaga) which is a type of large barrel-shaped cacti. The cactus pictured is probably located in the American desert. During flash floods, the hooked spines catch onto floating debris and uproot the plant. This allows them to be carried to areas where water usually accumulates.
