This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of an Arab messenger with his camel traversing the Egyptian desert. The caption writes, "[the messenger] making his way over the deserts of Egypt, guided by study of the sun and stars. He lives in constant peril of death by thirst or the sandstorm that at any moment may overwhelm man and beast." Photography by Lehnert & Landrock.
