1922 Rotogravure WWI RMS Mauretania Troop Ship New York Harbor Historic Image

This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the camouflaged RMS Mauretania coming into the harbor of New York on December 2, 1918 with returning troops from World War I. The caption writes, "She was the first vessel to bring back American soldiers in any number after the signing of the armistice, and as she came up the harbor she received an uproarious welcome from everything that could ring a bell or blow a whistle..."
