This is an original 1930 black and white halftone print of a piece of textile that was possibly from a garment that was create by the people of the Chimú culture. The design in this piece is of two large birds surrounded by smaller fish. The people of this culture lived in Chimor which was located in the Moche Valley in present day Trujillo, Peru. The culture existed between 900 AD and 1470 AD when it was then conquered by the Inca. The Chimú were known to have worshipped the moon and viewed the sun (that the Inca worshipped) as a destroyer.
