This is an original 1939 black and white photogravure of Saint John the Baptist preaching in the desert. This late Medieval piece was painted by a talented member of the School of Avignon, and was placed in the private collection of Georges Wildenstein, the famous French-Jewish art collector accused of collaborating with Nazis during the Second World War.
